Southern Baptist Convention - Liberal Resolution
Johnny Hunt endorses SBC Resolution in Honor of President Obama
Is Southern Baptist going liberal? Johnny Hunt does not support conservative agenda of previous SBC Presidents
A resolution has been proposed to honor President Obama at the
upcoming Southern Baptist Convention. Chances of its passage has been
greatly enhanced by endorsement of this resolution by Southern Baptist
President, Johnny Hunt.
As we see President Obama taking aggressive action to move America
away from its moral foundation and Christian heritage, it would be the
wrong message to America to honor a President whose polices are very
anti-Christian.
A resolution to honor President Obama would be sending the wrong
message to America and would distort the Biblical based image that the
conservative reformers of recent years have been trying to restore.
President Obama has pushed the abortion agenda in his past life as a
US Senator and the liberal abortion polices has been aggressively pursued by his current administration.
The Obama abortion polices are simply the killing of babies, a
direction violation of the Commandment, "Thou shalt not kill", and is
the most horrible abomination in our society. Do Southern Baptist and
its President wish to honor such a man who promotes the killing of babies?
Just this past week, the Obama Administration announced the promotion
of the Gay agenda by instituting gay domestic partner insurance
polices for federal employees.
President Obama is pushing his form of morality. The liberal media
has instructed us Christians, that we should not do that. But it is
okay for the President to impose his immorality and religious beliefs
upon us.
The Bible teaches a position contrary to the positions of
President Obama:
Leviticus 18:22, 24
Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind, it is abomination. Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things
1 Kings 15:11-12
And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did David his father.
And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.
Stepping to the low depths of ungodliness, we have a President who pushes evil polices and the destruction of our
Christian heritage. So do we wish to honor such a President with a resolution of honor?
Southern Baptist have been on the rightward swing for the past several
years to restore Biblical foundation. Previously liberals controlled
the organization and seminaries were full of professors who did not
belive the truth of the scriptures and many of them were not born
again. With the previous election of Adrian Rogers, the current generation of
Southern Baptists have done much to restore Biblical foundations and
hire Godly Bible believing professors in the seminaries.
President Johnny Hunt is sending mixed signals and the movement to
restore the conservative Biblical positions appears to be going backwards.

WOODSTOCK, Ga. (ABP) -- The president of the Southern Baptist Convention has voiced support for a proposed SBC resolution celebrating President Obama's election.
SBC President Johnny Hunt is pastor of First Baptist Church in Woodstock, Ga.
SBC president Johnny Hunt said the denomination can support the resolution without supporting Obama's politics.
"I think it is certainly a great thing to do, to celebrate the election of an African American," Hunt, pastor of First Baptist Church of Woodstock, Ga., told One News Now, a media outlet affiliated with the American Family Association.
"That was a great day in our country," Hunt said. "We celebrate it as a country, and I think, [as] Southern Baptists, we can do that."
Dwight McKissic, pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas, has submitted a resolution celebrating Obama's election "as a significant contribution to the ongoing cause of racial reconciliation in the United States."
McKissic, who is African American, said he didn't expect any major opposition to the proposal, even though the SBC in the recent past has embraced Republican presidents and criticized Democrats, including one of its own -- Bill Clinton, a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock, Ark.
In a comment on McKissic's blog, Utah pastor Jason Epps expressed skepticism about McKissic's optimism over the resolution's support in the SBC. The comment was quoted in a story in the Christian Post, an Internet news service based in Washington.
Utah pastor Jason Epps says while he didn't vote for Obama, Southern Baptists should celebrate the election of an African-American president.
"I sincerely hope you are correct, but the cynical part of me wonders what the good ole boys might have to say about this," Epps commented. "I guess we'll just have to see."
"I agree with Johnny Hunt" on Obama's election, Epps said in an interview June 17. "I think it's a bittersweet thing."
"I think it is great Obama was elected, being an African American," he said. "At the same time his policies are very dangerous, but we just have to find the good in it.

Many of the good ole boys who are Southern Baptist cannot simply say anything good about Obama, no matter what the spin is.
What you can do?
1. Contact all of your Southern Baptist friends and ask them to take a
stand. Every pastor of every Southern Baptist Church has a right to
vote at the convention and churches may send several messengers.
Thousands of them will attend.
2. Call the Southern Baptist Ethics Commission and leave a message.
1-888-324-8456 or (615) 244-2495.
3. Forward this email to others and ask them to actively contact
their friends as well.
To restore our great Christian republic, this is the wrong message to
send to America. The creditability of Southern Baptist Churches are
at stake. Southern Baptist Churches need to be at the forefront of
leading a revival in this country, not play the role of comprise and
political correctness.
Deuteronomy 10:12-13
12 And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,
13 To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?
