United For Life March-Saturday Jan. 22, 11AM-Brother Bryan Park A Time for Repentance, Witness, and Discipleship
We are fast approaching one of the most meaningful opportunities for the entire Pro-life Community to gather and proclaim publicly the sanctity of every human being from the moment of conception to natural death. Several facets of our gathering (Brother Bryan Park 22nd St. South and 10th Ave. Birmingham) and our prayerful March (about a mile past two area abortion clinics) are shared in the hope that you and those you may invite can participate as fully as possible:
Corporate Repentance and Intercession: We gather as the body of Christ to repent of our sin, the sins of our community, and the nation as regards the shedding of innocent blood. The Scriptures (Deuteronomy 21.1-9) teach of the good benefits that result when God’s people prayerfully gather at the sites where the shedding of innocent blood has taken place. As the Israelites prayed for their nation so we corporately pray for Birmingham and our nation: “Absolve, O Lord, your people…whom you have ransomed, and let not the guilt of shedding innocent blood remain in the midst of your people...”
Public Witness: Our Lord calls upon us to publicly bear witness to the sanctity of life, the evil of innocent bloodshed (abortion, euthanasia…) and to the mercy available to all who turn to God who is rich in mercy. May we heed the words of Our Savior Jesus Christ: “You are the light of the world…your light must shine before others that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.”
Discipleship: Jesus spent a great deal of time compassionately walking among the people, cities, and culture of His time declaring the truth and doing good. There is no substitute for putting “shoe leather” on your faith, and the faith of your loved ones. There is a dynamic present in this prayerful gathering and walk that will aid your loved ones, especially children to “get it.” The March is safe, legal, and a family discipleship event.
